Strengthening Collaboration:
TUL and TUBAF Exchange on EURECA-PRO Education and Mobilities

4 May, 2026

From 29 to 30 April 2026, Rector Peter Moser, Volkmar Kircher (Academic Coordination of International Study Programmes) and Denise Chousi (EURECA-PRO Education) of the Technical University of Leoben (TUL) visited the TU Bergakademie Freiberg (TUBAF) to strengthen the cooperation between the two universities within the framework of the European University on Responsible Consumption and Production (EURECA-PRO) and beyond.

The purpose of the visit was to discuss the strategic advancement of the European University EURECA-PRO, the role of the two partner universities in their respective regions, strategic development opportunities for the alliance in the Global South, and attractive mobility opportunities for students and staff. The visit also covered joint study programmes within the alliance.

Opportunities for students

A particular highlight of the programme was the meeting on 29 April 2026 between Rector Peter Moser of Technical University of Leoben and Rector Jutta Emes of TU Bergakademie Freiberg, and representatives of TUBAF and TUL.

The wide range of opportunities for students to engage with EURECA-PRO was one of the main topics, as well as the innovative “EURECA-PRO Introductory Lecture”, which is open to all students and staff of the partner universities upon prior registration via the EURECA-PRO website. Rector Moser also had the opportunity to engage in an expert discussion with Carsten Drebenstedt on the ‘MiReBooks‘ project (Mixed Reality Handbooks for Mining Engineers) during his stay in Freiberg. This forward-looking textbook series combines traditional content with augmented and virtual reality technologies.

The joint discussions resulted in a consensus to further strengthen the long-standing, positive relationship based on shared strategic goals and to solidify the close cooperation in a sustainable manner, particularly through joint study programmes.
