The self-paced course “Innovative Teaching Practices to Ignite Your Classroom” brings together experienced educators from the nine EURECA-PRO universities, providing a direct pathway to inspiration and practical exchange.

Based on an easy-to-follow, self-paced format, participants experience innovative teaching practices and their real impact on the overall learning experience of students.

Target Group

This course is designed for staff performing teaching or instructing duties, or those starting their career in the field, including: 

  • Professors
  • Associate / Assistant Professors
  • Lecturers
  • Foreign Language Instructors
  • Permanent and Non-permanent Laboratory Teaching Assistants
  • Non-permanent Teaching Staff
  • PhD Candidates or Postdoctoral Associates

Objectives:  

  • Showcase and analyse successful teaching practices implemented within the EURECA-PRO Alliance, enabling participants to adapt and implement them in their own courses.
  • Inspire both new and experienced faculty, maximising professional growth in a meaningful and time-efficient manner.
  • Introduce active and engaged professors to their peers and foster a Collaborative Professional Network.

Each session includes a self-assessment quiz to reinforce learning and reflection. Although the course does not award ECTS credits, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion upon finishing all sessions. The course content will be expanded and/or renewed throughout the project, and all pre-recorded sessions will be made available on Moodle for continuous access and engagement.

Angelika Haindl

Angelika Haindl is a senior lecturer at Montanuniversität Leoben (Technical University Leoben, MUL). A mining engineer, she graduated from the MUL in 2011. 

Prior to joining the university as a member of staff, she worked for Rio Tinto Minerals and Imerys as a mine manager assistant specialising in mine planning. She teaches courses on deposit modelling, mine scheduling, economic geology, and mining economics to master’s students at the MUL.

  • 25 years teaching English for specific and academic purposes at German and Ivorian universities, currently at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg.
  • 6 years as an entrepreneur – international language consultancy, CQLingo.
  • 6 years teaching English online to professionals and students – individually and in groups – with clients/participants from Singapore, Russia, Italy, Slovenia, Mexico, Germany, Poland.
  • 5 years working as an architect in Germany and the USA.
  • 2x 10-month English Language Fellowships with the US Department of State in Cote d’Ivoire.
  • Conference and webinar speaker in the USA, Estonia, Germany, Poland, Tanzania, and Cote d’Ivoire.

María Arrimada Garcia

 

Dr. in Developmental Psychology and Educational Sciences, María Arrimada is a lecturer in the Area of Developmental and Educational Psychology at University of León (Spain). She teaches in the Faculty of Education, delivering courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She is member of the IDEA teaching innovation group, within which she has taken part in several teaching innovation projects. Her research lines focus on early writing instruction and prevention of writing disabilities at the beginning of compulsory education. 

She authors several papers in prestigious international journals in the fields of Psychology and Education, such as British Journal of Educational Psychology or Reading and Writing. She is editor of two volumes on early prevention of writing disabilities and she also authors multiple book chapters. Her academic training has been enriched through international research stays at prestigious institutions such as Vanderbilt University (United States), Nottingham Trent University (United Kingdom), and the University of Stavanger (Norway), leading to the establishment of collaborative research networks. She is member of the CAEL research team and she has participated in various national and international research projects founded in competitive calls. Her research trajectory has been awarded with the Arquímedes Prize for Young Researchers.

María Piedad Campelo Rodríguez

 

María Piedad Campelo Rodríguez is a Spanish Agricultural Engineer holding a PhD in Agricultural Engineering and an MBA from the University of León, as well as a qualification as a Higher Technician in Occupational Risk Prevention. After receiving a predoctoral scholarship and working for several years as a self-employed agricultural engineer, she joined the Area of Agricultural Economics, Sociology and Policy within the Department of Agricultural Engineering and Sciences at the University of León in 2010, based at the School of Agricultural and Forestry Engineering (EIAF).

As an Associate Professor, she teaches on undergraduate and master’s degree programmes. She is a member of the Teaching Innovation Groups “Green Engineering” and “Service-Learning in Agricultural Engineering”. Her work in teaching innovation has been recognised with the First Prize for Innovation in Teaching awarded by the Social Council of the University of León on two occasions (2013 and 2017), as well as an Honourable Mention in 2023. In 2026, she received the Innovative Teaching Practice Award from the EURECA-PRO alliance. 

She is also a member of the research group “Engineering and Sustainable Agriculture”, the Spanish Association of Agricultural Economics, and the Spanish Society of Phytopathology. She has served as Vice-Dean of the School of Agricultural and Forestry Engineering for the past 15 years, undertaking extensive academic management responsibilities, including the coordination of internships and degree programmes.

Sofía Blanco-Moreno

 

Sofía Blanco-Moreno (PhD) is a Marketing and Tourism expert with specialization in Digital Marketing and technologies such as Web Scraping and Artificial Intelligence (Machine Learning and Deep Learning) applied in Tourism and Hospitality. She is also a PhD and an assistant professor at the University of León (Spain), and she has worked as a Digital Marketing expert on international companies such as Meliá Hotels. Her research has been published at well-recognized journals such as the Journal of Destination Marketing and Management.

 She has received several research awards, such as the Ph.D. Thesis Excellence Award 2025, for her thesis “AI-POWERED INSIGHTS: ANALYZING VISUAL AND TEXTUAL CONTENT ON SOCIAL MEDIA FOR DESTINATION MARKETING MANAGEMENT”, the best communication-paper at the AIRSI and AIM 2023 conferences, I UAM-ASSECO Business Case Award 2022 and “product test” within the University-Business Knowledge Transfer Plan for the platform Photo Data Tour Analytics.

Mario Grande-de-Prado

Mario Grande-de-Prado is a Full-time Professor at the Faculty of Education at the University of León, Spain. His thesis focuses on digital competence among pre-service primary education teachers. Since 2017, he has served as a permanent faculty member, after previous years as an associate lecturer since 2006. Since 2020 he is Head of ULe Online (area of the University of León focused on supporting their official online degrees and masters).

His academic interests encompass digital competence in education, the pedagogical use of games and gamification, online and virtual assessment methodologies, and the integration of artificial intelligence in higher education.

Norbert G. Berger

Retired staff lecturer and teaching fellow from the universities of Graz (Austria) and Exeter (United Kingdom). Currently external lecturer at Montanuniversität Leoben (Austria), Karl Franzens Universität Graz, and senior teaching fellow and IT officer at the Institute for Global Negotiation, University of Zurich (Switzerland).

Experiences and qualifications in educational research, blended and online teaching and learning, authoring teaching materials in legal studies, management, information technologies, teacher education, coaching research grant applicants, course and programme design, consulting on learning technologies and applications, learning management systems, authoring and co-authoring publications.
