EURECA-PRO at EAIE 2026:
Connecting, exchanging and shaping the future of international education

From 8–11 September, Glasgow, Scotland, became a vibrant meeting place for the international higher education community as EAIE 2026 brought together professionals from across Europe and beyond. Among them were International Relations colleagues from across the EURECA-PRO Alliance, coming together to exchange ideas, share experiences and strengthen connections.
EAIE 2026 offered a valuable opportunity to meet in person, reconnect with familiar faces and engage with new partners and perspectives. Across the four-day conference, conversations ranged from practical experiences and emerging trends to new ideas for strengthening international cooperation within and beyond the Alliance.
COIL, virtual mobility and staff development were among the topics at the heart of these exchanges. Sharing experiences from different institutions and contexts provided valuable insights into how internationalisation can become more inclusive, innovative and connected — and how digital and blended approaches can create new opportunities for students and staff.
European Universities Alliances in the spotlight
This year’s conference placed a particularly strong emphasis on European Universities Alliances and their role in shaping the future of European higher education. The theme, “The Rhythm of Revolution”, invited participants to question, collaborate and create lasting change — a vision that strongly resonates with the work and ambitions of EURECA-PRO.
From conversations to connections
For EURECA-PRO, Glasgow was a chance to strengthen the network of International Relations colleagues across the Alliance, exchange perspectives and bring fresh ideas back to our institutions. The many conversations and connections made during the conference will continue to shape our work and collaborations in the months ahead.
A big thank you to everyone who contributed to the discussions, shared their experiences and made EAIE 2026 such an inspiring gathering. We look forward to taking the conversations from Glasgow forward — and to continuing to shape the future of international higher education together.
