Academic Excellence: Keynote Sessions
The 2026 programme features world-renowned experts who will provide critical insights into the future of international education and the financial resilience of university alliances:
- Virtual Exchange and Blended Mobility: Professor Robert O’Dowd (Universidad de León) will deliver a plenary talk on how digital collaborative learning can enhance internationalisation and global citizenship. His presentation will be followed by an interactive workshop to develop institutional action plans for these methodologies across the alliance.
- A Strategic Dialogue on Financial Sustainability: In a high-level session, Professor Gregory Möller (University of Idaho) and Ms. Enora Bennetot Pruvot (European University Association – EUA) will address the structural challenges of university funding.
Professor Möller will present “Project Cycles vs. Market Volatility“, offering a transatlantic contrast between European and American funding architectures.
Ms. Bennetot Pruvot (joining online) will present “Financial sustainability of European universities alliances: a strategic frame“, analysing how alliances can move beyond short-term grants toward stable, long-term funding models.
Together, they will spark a crucial reflection on how national and European levels must share responsibilities to ensure the durability of European Universities.
Host City: León
The Universidad de León welcomes participants to a city that perfectly embodies the bridge between historical heritage and future innovation. León offers an unparalleled cultural experience, from its iconic Gothic Cathedral and the Romanesque Basilica of San Isidoro to the modernist architecture of Gaudí’s Casa Botines.
The region’s deep industrial and mining roots provide a relevant context for our alliance’s mission, while the city’s vibrant social life—centered around the famous Barrio Húmedo—offers the perfect environment for networking and strengthening the bonds of our European community.
