“Homo Ecologicus 2026” was educational event organised at the University of Petroșani (UPET), through the involvement of the Green Office and the Faculty of Mines, in collaboration with the “Mihai Eminescu” National College Petroșani and the Hunedoara County School Inspectorate.

The environmental general knowledge competition “Homo Ecologicus” – took place on 1 April 2026 at the Library of the University of Petroșani.
The competition included theoretical, practical and artistic components, designed to assess participants’ knowledge, creativity and applied understanding of sustainability topics.
Participants (primary, secondary and high school pupils) worked in teams and engaged in activities such as environmental quizzes, eco-themed artistic presentations, and practical outdoor tasks related to orientation and environmental protection.
Promoting environmental awareness
The initiative promoted environmental awareness, responsible behavior and active engagement among young people, while also supporting interdisciplinary collaboration between schools, teachers and higher education institutions.
The event is aligned with the principles of the EURECA-PRO European University Alliance, especially Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12) and was implemented with the support of the Green Office of the University of Petroșani, as part of the alliance’s sustainability framework, contributing to the promotion of EURECA-PRO values at local level.”
