A new photography exhibition will soon grace the façade of the Technical University of Crete’s Flora and Fauna Preservation Park. Titled “Wildfires Through the Researcher’s Lens“, the exhibition will be part of this year’s Reveil Festival of Sound and Ecology 2025, taking place on Saturday, 3 May 2025, at the Park.
The exhibition showcases photographs captured by PhD students and academic staff during their fieldwork at locations affected by wildfires. From Turkey and Greece to Brazil and Laos, the photographers-researchers document their encounters with the natural world through investigative lenses marked by care, empathy, and sensitivity. The collection not only raises awareness of wildfires as devastating natural events on a global scale but also highlights sustainable methods of wildfire management and prevention.
