EURECA-PRO partners inspire future engineers through Opening Courses at Université de Lorraine

6 Feb, 2026

For the second consecutive year, Lorraine INP (regrouping the 11 engineering schools within Université de Lorraine) has welcomed lecturers from EURECA-PRO partner universities to deliver its annual Opening Courses, an initiative designed to broaden students’ academic horizons and expose them to international perspectives from the very start of their engineering studies.

Held in early February 2026 in Nancy, this edition brought together invited teachers from Montanuniversität Leoben, Universiteit Hasselt, the Technical University of Crete and Sherbrooke University. Across several Lorraine INP engineering schools, they delivered in-depth courses embedded in the curriculum, while also introducing students to their home institutions and to the opportunities offered within the EURECA-PRO alliance.

Academic cooperation

Beyond the classroom, the programme fostered meaningful exchanges between academic communities. Dedicated networking moments, shared lunches and visits to host schools and laboratories enabled discussions on teaching practices, research interests and future collaborations. A networking reception in the heart of Nancy provided an informal setting to strengthen ties and encourage new joint initiatives.

By integrating international lecturers into its Opening Courses, Lorraine INP offers students a concrete experience of European and global academic cooperation. This initiative fully embodies EURECA-PRO’s ambition: to educate future engineers capable of addressing the challenges of responsible production and consumption through interdisciplinary, international and practice-oriented approaches.
