“Participating in the CEAD Summer School 2025 at Hasselt University had a major influence on my future plans. Academically, it strengthened my desire to pursue studies related to sustainable energy, smart systems or environmental engineering. It also motivated me to take part in other international programs. Professionally, understanding the challenges of decarbonization convinced me that I want to work in a field contributing to the energy transition. The mobility opened my eyes to the diversity of careers linked to renewable energy and inspired me to commit to a field that has real meaning.
On a personal level, living this experience in an international context boosted my confidence in my ability to adapt to different cultural environments. It encouraged me to envision a future career with a European or international dimension.”

“The most memorable moment at Universidad de León was the fieldwork for my research project. Interviewing local stakeholders and observing the city beyond a tourist perspective allowed me to discover León in a completely different way. I realized that heritage is not just something you visit, but something that truly shapes the city. I was also surprised by how welcoming people were.
You quickly feel integrated, both at university and in everyday life. These small things are what turn a stay abroad into a real life experience.”

“During the PhD Journey at Technical Univeristy of Leoben, the courses on sustainability allowed us to understand that what we consider nowadays as general knowledge is actually the result of a long process. This process has been led by great scientists, and today it is our turn to be at the forefront of it.
The course-work and the laboratory visits were pertinent and very illustrative. The opportunity to visit another country and laboratories abroad, to learn about sustainability in general, and the idea of sharing a convivial moment with other young researchers like me, were enough to convince me to apply.”

“Having always been interested in international relations, I applied for a position on the EURECA-PRO Student Council and was elected. This experience gave me several opportunities to travel, including attending the Student Council meeting in Gliwice, where I met the other members, discovered Polish culture, and visited the partner university, the Silesian University of Technology. I particularly enjoyed the workshop on the final day, which allowed me to delve deeper into Polish culture. We danced to traditional music, wore beautifully decorated hats, and I also learned about the symbolism behind peacock feathers—an element rich in meaning in local folklore.
This experience demonstrates why a mobility program like EURECA-PRO is essential. It offers a transformative immersion that goes beyond theoretical coursework. ”

“Participating in the EURECA-PRO Kick-Off Week 2024 in Hasselt was an incredibly enriching experience. It was inspiring to see Europe in action, watching this alliance come to life through its people. As a member of the student council, I especially appreciated the opportunity to dance, laugh, and work together, and I’m grateful for the friendships that resulted.
It was very rewarding to collaborate with people from such diverse cultural backgrounds and to contribute to representing the student perspective.”

“As part of my work for EURECA-PRO, I was able to attend the 3rd EURECA-PRO Conference on RCP in Greece in September 2023. I was responsible for media support and accompanied researchers, conducted interviews and collected personal stories – resulting in exciting insights and great contacts.
This trip was a unique opportunity to network internationally, but it also broadened my horizon and allowed me to grow beyond my own day-to-day studies.”
Bachelor student (Fakultät Medien, HSMW), intern and later student assistant for EURECA-PRO, went to TUC

“The PhD Journey program Montanuniversität Leoben was a really enriching experience for me. The exchange with other PhD students from all over Europe working in related fields and facing similar challenges really broadened my horizons. The program was very educational and also allowed me to look beyond my own research topic.
We had a lot of fun and I got to know many great people. I can recommend the PhD Journey without reservation. It was an unforgettable time that left me with valuable memories.”

“Attending the EURECA-PRO Summer School on Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Crete was an unforgettable experience.
Beyond expanding my knowledge in new areas, I gained a deeper appreciation for international collaboration and its impact on education and research. Programs like this not only enhance our academic and professional skills but also foster personal growth, cultural exchange, and lifelong connections.”

“We can certainly say that the Erasmus+ experience is the perfect way to discover places, people and make memories that will stay with us for a long time.
We have had the opportunity to go on Erasmus+ mobility to three countries: Spain, Poland and Austria. These countries are completely different in language and culture, but the people are the point that unites them. Erasmus+ mobility gave us the opportunity to see everything that is most beautiful in these 3 countries, starting from museums and ending with historical monuments.
We would like to thank Erasmus UPET for the experience and the beautiful memories they brought us. We urge all students to take advantage of this opportunity and sign up for Erasmus+ mobility and live an amazing Erasmus experience!”

“Between September 19-26, 2022, I participated in the summer school organized by the University of Crete (Greece).
It was my first participation in an Erasmus+ project and I am very excited about this opportunity. I learned many new things in the field of entrepreneurship, carrying out various innovative projects. What I liked most was discovering a country full of welcoming, cheerful people, but also with special traditions. By participating in the activities within the camp, I met students from all over the world, managing to develop my communication skills, contributing enormously to personal development.
I urge you to participate and not miss this opportunity!”

“Participating in the CEAD Summer School at Hasselt University enriched my teaching by engaging with a very diverse audience in terms of nationality, discipline, and academic level. I had to adapt the content and scientific level of my courses on more electric aircraft and CO₂ reduction to make them both understandable and useful for everyone.
This experience allowed me to develop new pedagogical methods to make my courses more interactive and accessible. The exchanges with students, their questions, and comments also contributed to my research reflection, particularly on practical applications of zero-carbon solutions.”

“My first Erasmus experience dates back to 1989… It was the very beginning of the program. It remains one of the best memories of my academic journey. Even today, as a professor at UL, Europe continues to inspire me both personally and professionally. Thanks to the EURECA-PRO alliance, I had the opportunity to take part in a staff week in Gliwice, where I exchanged ideas with my peers on critical pedagogy—a concept that guides my teaching practice. I believe these reflective moments are essential.
This year, Hasselt caught my attention. I initiated an exchange between my students in the Master’s program in Urban Innovation for Transforming Cities & Territories (IUVTT) and the Master’s in Transport students at Hasselt University to help them develop complementary skills. A fieldwork project was carried out in multicultural, multidisciplinary teams in collaboration with the master’s program director, Belgian colleagues, and with the valuable support of the EURECA-PRO team in the department of international relations. The experience was highly appreciated by all involved. We plan to make this exchange a lasting initiative and expand the project within the framework of the BIP program. For me, the very dynamic EURECA-PRO network offers multiple opportunities for collaboration.”

“Visiting the Technical University of Crete was an enriching experience both professionally and personally. It was fascinating to see how another European university operates and to discover the similarities in our schools’ structures and working methods. It was also eye-opening to see that we face many of the same challenges, highlighting areas that merit attention and potential collaboration. The trip strengthened our team dynamic, allowing us to connect on a deeper level.
Beyond the professional insights, experiencing the warm hospitality of Crete, its rich culinary traditions, and its vibrant academic culture made the visit truly memorable. I am grateful to EURECA-PRO for giving me this opportunity to engage in meaningful exchanges and broaden my perspective on international academic cooperation.”
