The International Week at Montanuniversität Leoben, held from 13–17 October, brought together around 80 participants across five parallel programmes: three EURECA-PRO Staff Weeks (International Relations, Communication & Dissemination, and Innovation), the KA171 Staff Week, and the Focus India Week. While each group followed its own thematic track, selected joint sessions were designed to foster exchange across roles, regions, and programmes.
Participants were welcomed during the official opening ceremony by Rector Peter Moser and Susanne Feiel, Director of International Relations and European University. The three EURECA-PRO staff weeks focused on sharing best practices, encouraging knowledge exchange, and strengthening networks among colleagues across borders, disciplines, and cultures.
Participants also took part in lab tours — including the Zentrum am Berg, Hydrogen & Carbon Research Center, and Digital Waste Research Lab — as well as city and campus tours of Leoben.
Interconnected European University
The International Relations Staff Week aimed to enhance global partnership strategies by exchanging best practices and strengthening ties between the EURECA-PRO International Relations Offices.
The Communication and Dissemination Staff Week focused on boosting the alliance’s outreach and visibility through collaborative communication efforts, joint recruitment initiatives, and effective dissemination practices. It also facilitated connections between members of the EURECA-PRO Communication and Dissemination Center and local communication departments.
The Innovation Staff Week fostered entrepreneurial thinking and cross-border collaboration, exploring opportunities for innovation, knowledge transfer, and the development of joint Innovation Pipeline activities.
Together, these programmes contributed to advancing the shared goals of EURECA-PRO — building a strong, interconnected European University committed to Responsible Consumption and Production. A diverse cultural programme complemented the academic sessions, featuring an evening celebrating cooperation with Indian partners and an Austrian evening showcasing local culture, music, and cuisine.
The International Week was a wonderful opportunity to bring Montanuniversität Leoben even closer to its international partners and to foster collaboration for upcoming projects.
Susanne Feiel
As Susanne Feiel, Director of International Relations and European University at Montanuniversität Leoben, mentioned in her closing remarks:
- “Once again, it became clear how much our personal work and communication carry us forward. Beyond structures and processes, it is the way we connect, listen, and engage with each other that gives this alliance its strength and energy to grow. You are the people behind the collaboration, turning strategies into stories and making international cooperation something we can see, hear, and experience, ensuring that we educate the people who will shape the world of tomorrow.”
