Summary:

The aim of WP3 is to analyse and develop joint interdisciplinary research approaches within the network of RE-EURECA-PRO and to explore their relevance for addressing the aims of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 12 regarding responsible consumption and production. The purpose of deliverable D3.3 is to identify a best-practice regional model of production (with transnational reach) and analyse its contribution to SDG12. With reference to a company and its corporate responsibility and sustainability report, key aspects of Sustainable Supply Chain Management (SSCM) and the LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) methodology are explained and analysed for their potential further uses.

voestalpine (based in Austria) are a world leader in environmentally friendly steel production and have developed a number of effective strategies to foster the circular economy and support the decarbonization of the economic system. They make strong claims about their environmental and social performance, which includes a commitment to environmental protection and fair social (labour) practices. Furthermore, they have collaborated with the Montanuniversität Leoben on numerous projects and their work thus contributes to the aims of EURECA-PRO. In this report, the company’s profile, the environmental performance of their products, their innovation actions, and their attention to environmental and social responsibility are examined from the perspective of environmental indicators and with attention to corporate responsibility.
